■ Department of Korean Language  |
| This department aims to produce instructors of Korean language and literature who are capable of teaching both domestically and internationally. The primary purpose of this department is on operating a systematic and detailed education about Korean language and literature with a secondary purpose of connecting the theories learned here to real life experiences. The Department of Korean Language actively performs extracurricular work designed to supplement regular classes. The department also offers education courses which allows graduates to become middle/high school teachers or even professors after completing graduate school. Other career possibilities after graduation include journalism, broadcasting, instructing in private academies or pursuing a literary career in writing and criticism.

■ The Department of English Language  |
| The Department of English Language aims to educate students
to achieve a high proficiency in English language and the ability
to communicate fluently, write documents and perform other tasks
that may be necessary in business and education in English.
The department also hopes to increase students' knowledge of
linguistics and imbue them with a background in American and
English Literature to expand their world views. The department
achieves these goals through intensive courses in linguistics,
literature, conversation and practical English. |

■ Department of Japanese Language  |
| The department aims to understand Japan in a proper way and
to educate and train Japanese language specialists necessary
in various fields of the society by producing skilled people
satisfying the global needs. To achieve these aims, the department
offers courses to learn Japanese studies and its relevant fields
in addition to Japanese linguistics and literature. Especially,
the curriculum is focused on raising and developing Japanese
communication ability, and the department operates flexible
courses concentrated on the development of Japanese expression
ability such as conversation, interpretation, translation and
writing in the perspectives of language and culture. Regarding
Japanese language, the department encourage its students to
improve their knowledge and practical ability which is necessary
in society by offering professional courses such as interpretation,
translation, and Japanese current events. Also, the department
holds Japanese language dramas, speech contests, illustrated
poem exhibitions, music festivals and athletic metes to strengthen
relations between current students and department alumni and
to give our students a meaningful universtiy experience. |

■ Department of Chinese Language  |
| China, with its history of five thousand years and its glorious
culture, has been rising as a major economic power with unlimited
possibility and potential in the 21st century. Skilled people
with a deep understanding and knowledge of Chinese linguistics
and culture are required in order to fully comprehend this emerging
economic giant. The Department of Chinese Language makes efforts
to satisfy the current, global efforts to understand China correctly
through exchange programs with many Chinese universities and
to provide students who want to advance into China in the future
with a practical academic basis. |

■ Department of Creative Writing  |
| This department focuses on producing creative language artists
with refined and polished Korean language skills. The department
raises the artistry of the language by celebrating the meaning
that the language and graft it to creative arts through creative
expression. Students can increase their ability of creation
in the their desired fields by participating one-on-one programs
with young, skillful poets, novelists, broadcast writers and
copywriters. In addition, they can broaden their areas of activities
in literature, essays, or by becoming writing teachers through
their own aptitude after graduation. |

■ Department of Industrial Design  |
| The department produces designers who understand Korean culture
and traditions, cultivates their ability to reflect changes
of the country and society and teaches them to express a creative
sense. Also, the department educates and trains students to
create designs which will be a trend of the industry in the
future. The department offers understanding of Korean culture
and technology through basic training and the formative education
of applied design with a practical education. |

■ Department of Landscape and Urban Design  |
| The department seeks to educate students in creative design
activities based on theories and technologies for making human
surroundings more comfortable and richer with the principle
of nature. The main are of student activities will focus around
houses & gardens in cities, apartment complexes, campus landscaping,
building and interior landscaping, green tracts of parks, theme
parks, amusement parks and river ecology. In addition, we intend
teach design focused on being in harmony with nature while developing
highways and airports, national and state parks, golf courses,
ski slopes, zoo and botanical gardens, landscaping cultural
assets for the use of humanity. Also, we teach artistry and
practicability, individualism and public nature for the preservation
of cultural resources and the wise use of land based on environment-friendly
and ecological thinking. |

■ Department of Fashion and Beauty  |
| The department seeks for a new study through uniting the fields
of fashion and beauty to confront the 21st century in which
creative minds, artistry, science and sensibility are mixed.
The Department of Fashion and Beauty tries to train specialists
in total fashion for "actualizing human nature through style
and flawless beauty." In order to achieve this, we help students
develop and experience creativity and integrate their own sense
of beauty into the basic procedure. We educate and train them
in systematically organized courses from Design Concept to Creation,
Product Making, Commercialization, Coordination and Marketing.
We offer various curriculum options that fit an individual’saptitude
such as their creative ability while training them in expression
and information analysis to build enough knowledge and skills
so they can compete in every field of the fashion and beauty industry. |

■ Department of Traditional Korean Music  |
| This Department of Traditional Korean Music, which was started
in 1984, is renowned for being the first department of its kind
in all of Jeonbuk Province. The department educates specialists
in various areas of study such as gayageum, guhmoongu, daegeu,
pirie, haegeum, ahjaeng, jungga, pansori, gayageum byeongchang,
Gyeonggi folk songs, piano and synthesizer. Students can demonstrate
their proficiencyin traditional Korean music at festivals each
spring and fall. Besides offering frequent opportunities to
practice, we focus on training outstanding people in the field
of traditional music and students wishing to delve further into
the study are able to apply for our graduate program of Traditional
Korean Music in the General Graduate School for the Music Education
major in the Graduate School of Education. Currently, the department
contributes significantly to the development of traditional
Korean music in the Jeonbuk region with active traditional music
education, performances and studies. |

■ Department of Theatre and Film  |
| The department was founded in 1979 to devlop people in theater
and filmwith the professional ability and knowledge of the whole
of drama and film making. In 1999, the department founded the「Woosuk
Repertoire Group」for current students and graduates to experience
actual field work in dramas, TV programs and movies. In 2002,
the department opened the Woosuk Repertoire Theatre and performed
「A Long Journey Into Night」,「Media」and「Hamlet」on stage. For
students wishing to major in film, practice classes are held
with the most up-to-date camera equipment. In addition, students
and graduates of this department have won many prizes from film
festivals on a national scale and have been invited to screen
their works at festivals around Korea. |

■ Department of Business Administration  |
| This department is oriented to train individuals in both knowledge
and practical ability through the systematic learning of specializedknowledge
and techniques focusing on the whole of business administration
and the intensive fostering of executive ability for wide understanding
of enterprise and the society and to develop management ability.
The Department of Business Administration teaches the knowledge
of business administration through subjects such as Personnel
Management, Production Management, Marketing, Financial Management
and MIS. In addition, the department also focuses on producing
human resources who can raise the understanding of business
administration and management and who possess the ability of
organization management through emphasizing the importance of
a field-oriented education. |

■ Department of Law  |
| The department nurtures creative people with aprofessional
knowledge of law. We guide students in the exact application
and understanding relevant to law so our graduates can work
asvarious professions such as professional lawyers, police officers,
administrators, court officers, procurators or in enterprises
and mass media. The faculty members consist of professors with
highly specialized knowledge and holding additional posts as
judges, procurators and lawyers. The department also hosts 「Banryonghun」,
a study group devoted to law, and manages its own law library.
The department also offers support for candidates who have passed
the national law exam through various scholarship programs. |

■ Department of Public Administration  |
| The department makes efforts to produce human resources in
the field ofpublic administration that governmental organizations
and enterprises require. We help students cultivate abilities
of creative planning and management, positive means to counter
changes and excellent task performance abilities. Through the
above, we guide students to successfully perform their studies
to gain experience as national public officials, police executives,
local public officials and officers in governmental organizations.
Parallel to these, the Institute for Public Officials Training
operates a curriculum to help students prepare for various exams
that are required to become public officials and we support
students who prepare for national exams with various duties
and the spontaneous acquisition of credits. |

■ Department of Journalism and Mass Communication  |
| The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication was established
in 1981 and produces the best journalists in the Honam region.
In addition, the department boaststhe largest human network
among various jobs not only in the journalism field. For 26
years since it was established, graduates from thisdepartment
have actively worked in broadcasting companies, newspaper companies,
productions, PR agencies and enterprises nationwide and have
became models for students still in school. Students who want
to work in broadcasting companies, newspaper companies, the
multimedia industry orPR industry will have opportunities to
experience practical skills in various facilities such as our
broadcasting practice room, photography practice room and editing
room together where they can apply the knowledge they learn
in lectures. Here you can meet future DJs, VJs, reporters, writers
and photo-journalists while they are still studying as students. |

■ Department of Distribution and Trade  |
| The department is divided into two majors: Business Distribution
major and Business Trade. Students learn general theories of
distribution and trade as the basis and then learn Chinese distribution
and trade laws. In addition, students will also learn foreign
languages essential for business including English and Chinese.
There are many students from China in this department and we
operate , a trading company belonging to the department
and so students may
practice interpretation and translation necessary for doing
business. Every year, many students go to China to study at
the college of China-Korea Trade at Sandong College of Education,
a university for international exchange, and those students
can earn multiple degrees. |

■ Department of Advertising and Events  |
| This department is the only one of its kind in Korea and differs
from other universities by combining the fields of advertising
and event planning together. Education of the department is
made not only through lectures, but students receive orders
of projects directly from advertising companies or event companies.
In addition, the department offers chances to students who will
be able to work in fields directly upontheir graduation because
they have experienced actual work through field practices that
occur either during semesters or vacations. Based on a practical
works oriented education, the employment rate of students from
this major is higher than those of other universities. Also,
the department issues advanced certificates of event planning
and producing to those who complete a certain level of qualification
and coursework. |

■ Department of Hotel and Tourism  |
| Tourism business is a major industry in today’s world that
satisfies the human desires of travel and leisure. Tourism business
of Korea began developing around the time of the Olympic Games
in 1988, was re-invented during the preparations for the 2002
Korea-Japan World Cup Games and bolstered by the enforcement
of the 5-day work week. The possibility of developing tourism
seems unlimited. The Department of Hotel and Tourism focuses
on producing specialists in tourism who will work for hotels
and tourism businesses based on a 1:1 student:teacher ratio,
internships, training abroad and field surveys of tourist spots. |

■ Department of International Leisure and Convention  |
| Leisure and convention industries have attracted attention
as an industry rife with potential in today’s world and that
the government included among the fields of information communication
and environmental industries. The Department of International
Leisure and Convention was established to train specialists
in the leisure industry especially in the fields of resorts,
theme parks, airlines and travel agencies and to produce convention
planners (PCO). The department offers a 3+1 internship program
wherestudents do internships in enterprises inside and outside
Korea and they will be able to hold jobs in enterprises through
a joint achievement evaluation system. The department has made
an international exchange program with the Department of Leisure
at Bokdan University in China thatoffers the opportunity to
become global professionals. |
