Jeonju Korean Medicine Cultural Center Director : Seo Yong-seong
In relation to the expansion of specialized facilities, Woosuk University was selected as a target for financial support under the Ministry of Education's local university development project and established the Jeonju Korean Medicine Cultural Center in August 2004. The total project cost of 3.3 billion won for the construction of the Jeonju Korean Medicine Cultural Center was covered by 1.7 billion won in national funding, 400 million won from Jeollabuk-do as part of a collaborative project, 800 million won from Jeonju City, and 400 million won from Woosuk University. The center was built on a 450-pyeong site in the Jeonju Hanok District, consisting of two traditional Korean-style buildings with a total floor area of 120 pyeong. The main structural elements, excluding the beams, were constructed using Korean larch (approximately 150 years old) and were built using traditional joinery techniques without nails or brackets. Additionally, to match the image of Korean medicine, a traditional pattern was selected for the roof tiles, and the Woosuk University logo was embossed on the tiles to symbolize the protruding parts of the roof. The Korean Medicine Cultural Center allows visitors to experience exhibitions of materials related to Korean medicine in daily life, as well as diagnosis and measurement of body types and foot baths. Furthermore, the Dongui (Eastern Medicine) Thought Hall, a feature of the Korean Medicine Cultural Center, has developed traditional teas suitable for different body types, providing a separate space for relaxation and tasting the flavors and effects of the teas that match the body types. The Korean Medicine Cultural Center is located in the Hanok Special Zone promoted by Jeonju City, linking it with the Jeonju Gyeonggijeon, Jeonju Craft Exhibition Hall, Traditional Liquor Museum, and Hanok Living Experience Hall, creating synergy effects for traditional cultural experiences and significantly impacting Woosuk University's specialization projects in the fields of Korean medicine and health.

Museum The museum was established in April 1983 as one of the university's affiliated institutions. Since its inception, it has collected many artifacts to establish its identity as a museum, and especially at the time of its founding, it operated based on donations from professors, staff, and students without financial support from the university, embodying the spirit of creating something from nothing. Currently, the museum is located on the 21st floor of the main building, where it collects and organizes materials. During the university festival, it displays important historical artifacts and materials that are not commonly accessible, along with photographs, to assist students. To date, the museum has collected and preserved 877 items, including ceramics, pottery, metalware, documents, and agricultural tools, most of which are various folk items and artifacts collected from our region. The museum aims to grow into a specialized museum that reflects the characteristics of our local area, equipped with folk materials such as agricultural tools and household items. In other words, it houses various historical artifacts excavated or collected from the Jeollabuk-do region, as well as various ethnological artifacts from bygone eras that contain the wisdom and spirit of our ancestors, and various documents that reflect the traditional social systems and lifestyles of Korea, such as property sale documents, slave documents, property litigation documents, family documents, and household registration documents. By researching and analyzing these collected materials that reflect the characteristics of the local community, the museum contributes to local research and development while promoting local culture and enhancing our pride and dignity. Additionally, it exhibits folk materials, historical artifacts, art crafts, calligraphy, and materials related to human culture, and is responsible for the collection, preservation, exhibition, evaluation, photography, repair, restoration, and research of materials belonging to the field of ethnology, which encompasses both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, thereby contributing to the cultivation and establishment of historical consciousness and national spirit. In the future, it will collect valuable materials containing the brilliant spirit of adults and regularly organize and display materials collected through field trips and excavations of local relics, allowing students, faculty, and the general public to view them, thereby enhancing our national historical consciousness and supporting research activities. It will also hold lectures on important matters related to archaeology and ethnology to increase understanding and interest in the relics of our ancestors.
Newspaper Broadcasting Within the newspaper broadcasting department, there are university newspaper editorial offices, broadcasting programming offices, English newspaper editorial offices, and Chinese newspaper editorial offices. The 'Woosuk University Newspaper' was founded alongside the establishment of the university, and the 'Woosuk Broadcasting Station (WBS)' was launched the following year. In April 1999, the newspaper and broadcasting stations were merged to operate as the newspaper broadcasting department. Subsequently, in response to changing times, an English newspaper was launched, and in 2008, the first Chinese newspaper in the nation was established and published in magazine format. The newspaper broadcasting department integrates the media on campus for promotional activities both inside and outside the university and strives to eliminate the time and space constraints of newspapers and broadcasting, maintaining a complementary relationship to ensure that the 'Voice of Woosuk' is conveyed throughout the campus and beyond. Additionally, it plays a role in fostering the sentiments of the university community by collecting opinions from various channels and conducting its core business.
Organization and Chart
Woosuk University Medical Center Woosuk University Medical Center is a hospital that integrates traditional and modern medicine, established in 1991, and has been dedicated to education, research, and the health of the local community. The medical center consists of five centers: Stroke and Parkinson's Disease Center, Integrated Cancer Center, Pain Rehabilitation Center, Atopy Allergy Center, and Health Screening Center, providing medical services for traditional medicine and integrated treatment.
Sports Team Team Leader : Professor Shin Sang-min
The sports team is responsible for managing athletic scholarship students, establishing and managing training plans for athletes, discovering and nurturing outstanding athletes, planning and implementing sports events both on and off campus, evaluating games and reporting results, managing and supporting coaches, managing and operating sports facilities, and other sports-related matters. Additionally, to ensure the rational operation and promotion of the sports team, a Sports Promotion Management Committee has been established. The committee deliberates on matters related to the establishment of sports policies for the university, the establishment and amendment of regulations or internal rules regarding sports, the selection of sports specialties and allocation of personnel, the review of transitions to athletic scholarships, and the appointment of supervisors for each sport. As of 2015, the sports teams include soccer, taekwondo, volleyball, archery, and shooting as supported sports, while fencing is categorized as a non-supported sport. Athletes belonging to the sports team have achieved excellent results in national competitions and championships every year, with the soccer team achieving an undefeated championship in the Honam region of the U-League in 2014, and the volleyball team achieving seven consecutive championships in the national fall university competition. The taekwondo team consistently achieves excellent results in various events and has produced national representatives (1st place for men and women individually) and has achieved excellent results in national competitions and championships every year, including 2nd place in the team event for shooting and 3rd place in the team event for fencing at the 95th National Sports Festival in 2014. The archery team contributed to the national prestige by nurturing Hyun-joo Choi, who won a gold medal in the women's team event at the 30th London Olympics in 2012.
Comprehensive Practice Center The Comprehensive Practice Center was established in March 1992 to promote practical skills through field practice based on the theories learned in the classroom, in line with the trends of developing disciplines. The practice center includes a herbal garden, food processing plant, farm, and ranch. The herbal garden oversees the cultivation quality control and manufacturing of herbal medicines, while the food processing plant conducts operations to enhance the added value of agricultural, fishery, and livestock products. Additionally, the farm engages in crop production, fruit cultivation, and facility horticulture, while the ranch focuses on dairy farming, pig farming, poultry farming, deer raising, beekeeping, pasture, and feed crops.
Publishing Department The Publishing Department was established on September 1, 2007, and registered for publication on October 18, 2007 (Registration No. Wanju-gun 2007-1). Additionally, on January 9, 2008, it applied for and received approval for the International Standard Book Number (ISBN/978-89-960640). The Publishing Department was established to contribute to the enhancement of faculty capabilities and academic development by publishing and distributing the university's research achievements. It can be seen as an organization that reflects the university's research activities and faculty capabilities. The department aims to develop and publish general textbooks and excellent books, as well as provide rare and valuable books, periodicals, and collections of papers to the general public and students. The activities of the Publishing Department, which must develop in proportion to the university's academic capabilities, are responsible for enhancing the university's external image and achieving practical accomplishments. Therefore, the Publishing Department was newly established on October 15, 2007, and plans to expand conditions that can contribute to academic and cultural development in the future. It also aims to realize and develop the educational philosophy of the university, which is based on ability, belief, and service. It has published the autobiography of former Asahi Beer Chairman Seto Yujo, titled "Adversity is Not Scary," the poetry collection of Honorary Chairman Kim Tae-jung of Kanamoto Company, titled "My Hometown is Honam," and President Ra Jong-il's "Bibimbap Story" (in four languages).
