WOOSUK University, which is establishing its reputation as a representative private university in Honam by recording the highest level in various university evaluation indicators such as employment rate, internationalization, and industry-academia cooperation, is realizing a small but strong university by setting and focusing on specialization areas in welfare and safety, culture and sports, bio-food, and energy and environment.

Curriculum

Organization and Operation of Major Subjects

  • Major subjects are composed of required courses (common to the department) and elective courses
  • Major subjects are structured on the principle of 3 credits, with 15 hours of classes in one semester counting as 1 credit, and laboratory, practical, and performance subjects can be structured in units of 1 or 2 credits, with classes exceeding 30 hours in one semester counting as 1 credit
    • Major subjects will be canceled if the number of enrolled students is less than 8
    • Theoretical subjects can be divided when the number of students exceeds 70, and laboratory, practical, and performance subjects can be divided when the number of students exceeds 50
    • Divisions should follow the principle of post-division with classes at the same time, and if the total number of enrolled students in the divided subjects falls below the division standard, combined classes must be held. However, if it is difficult to have classes at the same time due to the nature of the subject, prior and same-time divisions are allowed
    • When opening required major subjects, the principle is to open within 12 credits
    • For departments with a graduation credit requirement of 130 credits, major subjects should be structured within 48 credits per semester, with openings limited to 45 credits, and a maximum of 90 credits per major. For departments with a graduation credit requirement of 140 credits, major subjects should also be structured and opened within 48 credits per semester, with a maximum of 96 credits per major

    • The credits for the Department of Occupational Therapy, Department of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and Department of Oriental Medicine are operated separately
    • Within 12 credits, interchangeable subjects between departments can be designated, and if the designated subjects are completed, they can be recognized as subjects of the affiliated department. Interchangeable subjects should be designated in the curriculum and submitted to the Academic Affairs Team

Credits and Operation by Major

  • Those who complete only a single major (first major) must complete at least 57 credits, including required major courses (common to the department) (however, 60 credits for the College of Education, 92 credits for the Department of Nursing, 124 credits for the Department of Oriental Pharmacy, 51 credits for the Department of Oriental Medicine, 160 credits for the Department of Korean Medicine, and 166 credits for the Department of Pharmacy)
  • Those who wish to pursue a double major must earn at least 36 credits, including required major courses (common to the department) for the primary major (first major), and at least 36 credits in major subjects, including required major courses (common to the department) for the respective double major. However, for teacher education double majors, completion must follow the [Teacher Education Guidelines]
  • Those who wish to pursue a linked major must earn at least 36 credits, including required major courses (common to the department) for the primary major (first major), and at least 36 credits in major subjects, including required major courses (common to the department) for the linked major
  • Those who wish to pursue a minor must complete at least 57 credits, including required major courses (common to the department) for the primary major, and at least 21 credits in minor subjects

Submission of Curriculum Table for Incoming Freshmen by Department

  • Target: Incoming freshmen for the next academic year
  • Submission Date: Early in the second semester of each academic year (to be announced separately)
  • Submission Method: Incoming freshmen must prepare and submit a curriculum table and course description table for their 4-year study
  • Available Credits
    • For departments with a graduation credit requirement of 130 credits: a maximum of 90 credits can be offered (96 credits can be structured)
    • For departments with a graduation credit requirement of 140 credits or more: a maximum of 96 credits can be offered (however, the Department of Occupational Therapy, Department of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, Department of Oriental Medicine, and Department of Korean Medicine are separate)
