Woosuk University, which is establishing its reputation as a representative private university in Honam by recording the highest level in various university evaluation indicators such as employment rate, internationalization, and industry-academia cooperation, is realizing a small but strong university by setting and focusing on specialization areas in welfare safety, culture and sports, bio-foods, and energy environment.

Class/Graduation

Graduation

  • When all graduation credits have been completed
  • When the graduation thesis or comprehensive examination of the major has been passed
  • For double majors, when the graduation thesis or comprehensive examination of the double major department has been passed
  • ※ All of the above requirements must be met to graduate

Ineligibility for Graduation

  • If graduation credits (credits by completion type and total credits) are insufficient
    • Common liberal arts (required), elective liberal arts, major required, major elective, and common courses for the department, etc.
    • Automatically extended to the 9th semester

Tuition for Students Exceeding the Standard Study Period (9th Semester or More)

  • 3 credits or less: 1/6 of the tuition for the semester
  • 6 credits or less: 1/3 of the tuition for the semester
  • 9 credits or less: 1/2 of the tuition for the semester
  • More than 10 credits: Full tuition for the semester

Completion

  • When all graduation credits have been completed (credits by completion type and total credits) but failed the graduation thesis or comprehensive examination of the major or double major
  • Since all graduation credits have been completed, there is no requirement for course registration and tuition payment
  • Graduation after passing the review of the graduation thesis, etc.

Postponement of Graduation (Completion)

  • Postponement of graduation: Meeting graduation credit requirements, passing the graduation thesis or comprehensive examination
  • Postponement of completion: Meeting graduation credit requirements, failing the graduation thesis or comprehensive examination
  • If all graduation credits have been met but wish to take courses required for certification, graduation (completion) can be postponed, and tuition payment will depend on the credits registered (postponement is possible for up to 2 semesters, but leave of absence is not allowed)

Early Graduation

Eligibility for Early Graduation

  • Students with an average score of 96 or higher each semester (can graduate before completing the 8th semester)
  • Students who have received disciplinary action during their enrollment cannot apply for early graduation
  • Students who have forfeited credits cannot apply for early graduation (however, if the grades before and after the forfeiture meet the early graduation requirements, they are exempt)

Application Period for Early Graduation: Within 7 days after the start of the 6th or 7th semester

Application Procedure

※ Fill out the early graduation application form → Confirm with the head of the department → Submit to the Academic Affairs Team → Approval

Graduation Thesis

  • Eligibility for submission: Those who have no disqualifications regarding the curriculum completion requirements (including double majors) and are recognized as not hindering graduation
  • Submission period: Submit the thesis plan to the head of the department within 2 weeks at the beginning of the final semester
  • Submission deadline: Submit to the head of the department by the end of the 14th week of the semester
  • Those who fail the thesis: Can resubmit within the enrollment period for re-evaluation

Graduation Examination, Practical Presentation

  • Eligibility to take the exam: Those who have no disqualifications regarding the curriculum completion requirements (including double majors) and are recognized as not hindering graduation
  • Examination dates: Conducted in December and June, announced by the head of the department 2 months prior
  • Method of implementation: Graduation examination includes more than 5 major subjects, practical presentation is a presentation
  • If substituting with a graduation examination
    • Students who wish to present a thesis or practical presentation but cannot due to unavoidable circumstances such as illness may substitute with a graduation examination

Substitution for Graduation Thesis or Comprehensive Examination

  • Graduation thesis or comprehensive examination
    • Students expecting to graduate must pass the graduation thesis or comprehensive examination to graduate
  • Substitution for graduation thesis or comprehensive examination
    • Students who have obtained various technical qualifications (Level 1, Level 2) related to their department and scores of TOEIC 550, TOEFL PBT 450, TEPS 470 can substitute for the graduation thesis or comprehensive examination, but must confirm whether there are separate criteria set by the department to avoid issues with graduation

  • Check the graduation credits by year of admission and department to confirm eligibility
  • Check the eligibility for completion of liberal arts and major courses by year of admission and department

Check Status of Liberal Arts Completion

  • Check whether credits for common liberal arts (required) and electives have been completed
  • Check whether social service or invited lectures have been completed → If not completed as common liberal arts required, graduation is not possible (students admitted in 2005 are exempt as common liberal arts electives)
  • Check the upper limit of credits for liberal arts courses
    • Before 2004: Common liberal arts 8, elective liberal arts 15 or more

    • 2005: Common liberal arts 8, elective liberal arts 15 or more

      Social service (or invited lectures) elective

    • 2006 ~ 2007: Common liberal arts 8, elective liberal arts 15 or more

      Common liberal arts 17, elective liberal arts 9 credits also recognized

      Social service (or recommended lectures) required

    • 2008 ~ 2009: Common liberal arts 8, elective liberal arts 15 or more

      Common liberal arts required: Global English (or Global Chinese), invited lectures (or social service) are required subjects

    • 2010 ~ 2011: Common liberal arts 8, elective liberal arts 15 or more

      Common liberal arts required: Global English (or Global Chinese), invited lectures (or social service) are required subjects

    • 2012 ~ 2013: Common liberal arts 8, elective liberal arts 15 or more

      Common liberal arts required: Dure Community, Global English (or Global Chinese), Basic Writing, social service (or invited lectures, foreign students must take Employment Korean)

  • 2017: Common liberal arts 10, elective liberal arts 20 or more

    Common liberal arts required: Dure Community, Global English (or Global Chinese), Writing, social service (or invited lectures, foreign students must take Employment Korean), Computational Thinking

  • ※ Students admitted before the 2007 academic year can choose one of the following methods for completing liberal arts courses
    • Option 1: The method of completing liberal arts credits applicable at the time of admission
    • Option 2: Completing 12 or more credits in common liberal arts and 15 or more credits in elective liberal arts (one of social service or invited lectures must be completed)
  • Check Double Major and Minor (for applicants only)

    • Check the approval status of double (linked) major (must be approved by the end of the 6th semester [early December])
    • Check the approval status of minor completion (minor in teacher education is only available for students admitted before the 2007 academic year)

    Check Completion of Major Courses (Major Required, Major Elective, Common for the Department)

    • Check whether major required (basic major) courses offered by the department have been completed (must be completed to graduate)
    • For undergraduates, check whether common courses offered by the department have been completed
    • If it is difficult to complete major required courses due to curriculum changes resulting from department closure or name changes, consult with the department head. The department head must visit the Academic Affairs Team for consultation
    • Transfer students must complete major required (basic major, common for the department) courses offered by the transferred department to graduate

    • Excludes Nursing, Korean Medicine, Oriental Medicine, and Pharmacy departments (consult with the department)
    • If doing multiple majors within the department, must complete 12 common for the department and 24 credits in each major elective
    • For the College of Education, single majors must complete 60 credits or more (for matters regarding the operation of the teacher education program, please contact the Teacher Education Department)

    Things to Check When Registering for Courses in the 8th Semester

    • Check whether the course classification is correctly categorized by completion type, and if incorrect, visit the Academic Affairs Team to correct it (print the graduation expected credits report from the department office → confirm course classification with the department → submit to the Academic Affairs Team)
    • Check the course registration details for the last semester and correct any mistakes during the course registration correction period
    • Check whether there are any deficiencies in the completion type for each course and register for the courses needed during the course registration correction period

    Check Graduation Expected Student Verification Materials

    • Print the graduation expected credits report for each department → individually check to confirm eligibility for graduation, request correction of course classification → submit verification materials to the Academic Affairs Team → course classification correction
