Humanities Research Institute The Humanities Research Institute was established in June 1998 by integrating six research institutes belonging to the fields of humanities and social sciences with the purpose of contributing to the understanding and development of human culture and Korean culture through research and practice in humanities and social sciences. The institute continues its research activities divided into six research divisions, each maintaining its unique characteristics, and engages in various academic seminars, surveys and analyses, lectures, and research exchanges with domestic and international research institutions as its main activities. The six divisions of the institute are: ① Division of Humanities Research ② Division of Management Research ③ Division of Distribution and Trade ④ Division of Social Thought ⑤ Division of Local Media Research ⑥ Division of Korean Political Research, each led by a division head, and it employs full-time researchers, research fellows, and visiting researchers to carry out diverse research activities. The Humanities Research Institute has signed a cooperation agreement with the Center for Theoretical Study (CTS) at Charles University in the Czech Republic and is striving to create an international research environment along with local development.
Child Welfare Research Institute The Child Welfare Research Institute, established on March 1, 1987, aims to provide comprehensive assistance regarding education, protection, and various social welfare issues concerning children. It is affiliated with Woosuk University and is composed of divisions for academic research, early childhood education program development, early childhood education information, welfare research, and public relations. Its core activities include: first, research on early childhood education program development and teacher training programs; second, development of teaching materials and resources for early childhood education institutions; third, education for parents and teachers and development of educational programs; fourth, comprehensive longitudinal and cross-sectional research on child welfare; fifth, academic seminars related to early childhood education and parent education; and sixth, international academic exchanges. The institute also aims to develop domestic industry-academia linkage programs through partnerships with industry-academia cooperation institutions, expand academic exchanges with the USA, Japan, China, and New Zealand, and develop international industry-academia cooperation research projects.
Natural Sciences Research Institute The Basic Science Research Institute was established on June 1, 1998, as a research institute for basic and natural sciences. Its purpose is to promote the fields of basic and natural sciences and facilitate smooth research through the exchange of information regarding research. The institute's activities include academic research on basic and natural sciences, hosting research presentations and lectures, domestic and international academic exchanges, securing research funding and grants, executing entrusted projects, and other matters related to the institute's objectives. The organization of the institute consists of a director, division heads for each division, research fellows, secretaries, and researchers, and all operations are deliberated and decided by an operating committee composed of the director, division heads, and secretaries. The institute is established and operated to support the research activities of faculty members and achieve its business objectives.
Social Welfare Research Institute The Social Welfare Research Institute was established in March 2004 with the purpose of providing useful information based on professional theories and scientific research methods for all fields that require decision-making through data investigation and analysis, thereby contributing to the development of local communities and the nation. The main activities of the institute include: ① Survey activities: external commissioned surveys (public opinion and surveys in various fields such as social, political, economic, cultural, etc.), internal surveys and research; ② Statistical consulting: data entry, data analysis, statistical analysis of papers, statistical counseling, questionnaire design, and sample design; ③ Practical training and special lectures: providing opportunities for university and graduate students to participate in actual surveys and receive training, education on the use of statistical programs (SPSS, SAS, etc.) focused on practical training, data processing and analysis, report writing, etc.; ④ Industry-academia cooperation through statistical quality control; ⑤ Publication of academic research journals and hosting research presentations. Since 2005, the institute has conducted user satisfaction surveys for evaluating the status of information disclosure operations with government support every year and publishes research reports on lecture evaluations each semester. Additionally, it conducts various public opinion surveys related to local government elections in Jeollabuk-do in collaboration with media organizations such as Jeonbuk Ilbo and collects opinions and conducts surveys on various policies and current issues in cooperation with central and local governments.
Saemangeum Research Institute The Saemangeum Research Institute was established in May 2006 with the aim of contributing to the development of the Saemangeum region and the tourism and leisure industry in Jeollbuk-do through theoretical research and practical survey research. The main activities of the institute include publishing academic research journals and books related to Saemangeum tourism, hosting academic presentations and seminars, conducting service projects related to tourism development, industrial development, and environmental issues in the Saemangeum area, feasibility studies and analyses of new business plans related to the Saemangeum region, feasibility studies and analyses of new business plans related to tourism and leisure, management diagnostics and guidance for the tourism and leisure sector, service projects related to cost calculations, government contract amount adjustments, development cost estimations, public utility rate calculations, and establishing and conducting courses and educational projects for industry-academia cooperation, as well as research exchange projects with other research institutions at home and abroad. To efficiently operate these projects, the institute is divided into divisions for hotel tourism, historical cultural tourism, international leisure conventions, tourism product development, tourism complex development, and tourism complex environmental development.
Engineering Research Institute The Engineering Research Institute is a comprehensive research institute in the field of engineering at Woosuk University, established to conduct research and related projects on the theory and application of engineering technology. By utilizing the excellent research personnel and facilities of the College of Engineering at Woosuk University for educational activities as well as research activities in advanced, public, convergent, and creative fields, the institute aims to contribute to national industrial development and technological advancement, and to support university development and society through research and information exchange in the field of engineering. The Engineering Research Institute is a comprehensive and specialized research management organization, and its role is to efficiently and economically manage research projects to meet the demands for the development of industrial technology, future-oriented technology, basic scientific technology, multidisciplinary technology, and public-based technology.
Multicultural Center As we entered the 21st century, interest in multiculturalism in Korean society has increased. With the rise of migrant workers, marriage immigrants, and North Korean defectors, issues such as unfair treatment, human rights violations, cultural gaps, and economic problems have emerged, highlighting the need for protective policies and social integration. In response, the Multicultural Center at Woosuk University was established in November 2008 to broaden mutual understanding among members of multicultural society and enhance the social integration of multicultural members in our society. The center engages in various activities such as supporting education for children from multicultural families, developing educational programs and materials, and hosting forums and teacher training related to multicultural education. Since hosting a relay forum on international student recruitment policies under the Ministry of Justice in 2008, the center has co-hosted an academic conference with the Korean-European Association on the theme of "The European Union and Multiculturalism." It also conducts a training program for second-level multicultural experts and social integration education. Since its establishment, the center has published materials on the European Union and multiculturalism, training for second-level multicultural experts, understanding Korean society, immigration laws, and social integration policy directions for 2009. The center is led by Professor Lee Seung-mi from the Department of Silver Welfare.
Cognitive Science Research Institute The Cognitive Science Research Institute is a multidisciplinary research field focused on intelligence and perception, providing useful information based on professional theories and scientific research methods to understand the aging-friendly society and to research the improvement of quality of life and the foundation for economic growth. It also conducts research on sleep disorders related to modern people's night work environments and frequent stress, aiming to improve sleep quality and study all fields related to sleep disorders.
Taekwondo Research Institute The Taekwondo Research Institute, based on the Taekwondo Department at Woosuk University, conducts research on the techniques and theories of Taekwondo, aiming to cultivate Taekwondo practitioners who embody wisdom, virtue, and physicality, and to serve society through extensive research and dissemination of theories and practices related to Taekwondo and its social phenomena.
Kim Geun-taek Research Institute The Kim Geun-taek Research Institute was established to inherit the legacy of the late Professor Kim Geun-taek and to research and propose policies based on the philosophy of democratic governance. It aims to illuminate the historical horizon through the personal history of the late Kim Geun-taek and the modern history of Korea, focusing on democracy, human rights, and unification, and to conduct academic research on the overall Korean democracy, related academic research on Kim Geun-taek, and memorial events, along with symposiums, seminars, and publication projects.
Convergence Cultural Content Research Institute Liberal Arts Education Research Institute Smart Convergence Life Care Research Institute The Smart Convergence Technology Research Institute aims to quickly identify the demand for "digitally-based jobs" created by the "Fourth Industrial Revolution," systematically analyze it, and provide accurate information to "instructors and students," while also broadly communicating with industries and expert groups to develop and operate programs that can assist the career paths of current students and graduates of Woosuk University.
