Basic Principles of Liberal Education Curriculum Organization

  • The liberal education curriculum is organized according to the educational goals of our university, aiming to cultivate students' understanding of humanity and society, ethical attitudes, and the ability and skills to actively participate in society, thereby developing the basic learning abilities necessary for various academic activities and acquiring excellent practical skills.

Organization and Operation of the Liberal Education Curriculum

  • A. Principles of Liberal Education Curriculum Organization
    • The liberal education curriculum is organized based on the educational goals of our university, aiming to cultivate students' understanding of humanity and society, ethical attitudes, and the ability and skills to actively participate in society, thereby enhancing core competencies through the curriculum.
  • B. Standards for Organizing the Liberal Education Curriculum
    Standards for Organizing the Liberal Education Curriculum
    Criteria Content
    Relevance of Core Competencies and Subjects Whether there is a connection with academic, social, and contemporary demands, as well as the university's educational goals, ideal graduate profile, and core competencies.
    Contribution Level to Competency Enhancement Whether the designated core competencies can be enhanced through the course.
    Diversity of Fields Whether subjects from various fields are evenly distributed.
    Similarity and Substitutability with Other Subjects Whether there is redundancy due to similarity with existing subjects when developing new subjects.
    Demand and Outcomes of the Liberal Education Curriculum Organized based on the results of student demand surveys and educational satisfaction surveys.
  • C. Methods and Procedures for Organizing the Liberal Education Curriculum
    • The organization of the liberal education curriculum is based on the results of achieving liberal education goals and enhancing core competencies.
    • The draft of the liberal education curriculum is prepared by the Liberal Education Support Center and is decided by the Curriculum Committee after deliberation by the Liberal College Operating Committee.
      * In the case of newly developed subjects or subjects that need improvement, each committee may request improvements.
    • The approved draft of the liberal education curriculum by the Curriculum Committee is finalized by the President.
  • D. Structure of the Liberal Education Curriculum
    • The liberal education curriculum is organized into major areas of basic liberal education, balanced liberal education, and future liberal education, and further divided into detailed areas based on the characteristics of the subjects.
      1. Composition and Definition of Major Areas

        Basic Liberal Education (Required): Education that enhances literacy, digital literacy, global communication skills, and community consciousness.

        Balanced Liberal Education (Elective): Cultivating essential understanding and inquiry spirit in various academic fields such as humanities and arts, humanity and society, nature and science.

        Future Liberal Education (Elective): Cultivating convergent thinking to respond to changes in future society.

      2. Detailed Areas by Major Area

        Detailed area of Basic Liberal Education: Self-education, Communication Education, Information Education.

        Detailed area of Balanced Liberal Education: Humanities and Arts, Humanity and Society, Nature and Science.

        Detailed area of Future Liberal Education: AI·AX, Convergence.

    • The classification of completion (credit) in the liberal education curriculum is divided into required and elective liberal education, and the completion system is as follows.
